On May, Thursday, the 25th a group of special school students of "San Juan de Dios" and members of the "Civitas" Association visited Palmitos Park.
Palmitos Park, the largest zoo and botanical park in the Canary Islands, has received the visit of the Special Education Centre “San Juan de Dios”. This centre of special education for children with physical and social deprivation is one of the largest institutions to help these people on the island.
The park, that is located in a beautiful environment and has more than 60 exotic species arrivals from five continents, has given its space, which has set the stage for the more than 70 visitors with psychological problems enjoy a day with which they have welcomed the summer.
The members of the CIVITAS Association also have been present during the visit. This association that includes parents of children with intellectual disabilities, was set up to ensure their children an education tailored to their needs.
The park's manager, Pedro Cantero, welcomed the possibility of collaborating with the Association: "In Palmitos Park we have a commitment to society. Our professional team has been marked as a challenge to working in the education of children in all areas, so we support these initiatives, which will benefit not only members of the centre that visit us, but the rest of people whom the message reaches them.
